White House Threatens Senate with Veto
Thu September 11, 2003 01:16 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Thursday threatened to veto a Senate proposal that would strike down recently relaxed media ownership rules.

The Office of Management and Budget said it strongly opposed the disapproval resolution, which is due for debate later on Thursday ahead of a vote expected on Monday, saying it would negate almost two years of careful study.

"If S. J. Res. 17 were presented to the President, his senior advisors would recommend that he veto it," the budget office said in a statement, referring to the senate joint resolution.

But bipartisan supporters of the measure suggested they had the two-thirds majority needed to overturn any veto by President Bush.

4. The Senate and House will have enough votes to override
the veto and send a "Fuck you" notice to *. Get busy - call your local congressassholes (Repukes) or congresspeople (Dems) today and tell them the veto threat is WORTHLESS and the people wants it OVERRIDDEN.

6. If They Do Have The Votes For An Override,...
then all I can say the Residents advisors (See:Karl Rove) is..."bring it on". You couldn't possibly make your man look like a bigger fool that he already does.

7. This would disrupt Karl Rove & Tom Delay's plans for power
consolidation. The Senate apparently didn't get the memo.

8. I hope he vetoes it
It can only hurt him. This is a BIG issue with the NRA and other right wing organizations opposing consolidation. Maybe they are smart enough to figure out the repugs won't always be in control. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a democratic press-I don't mean democratic I mean democrat's press. Whooeee.
