RIDDLE AS US SPY CHIEF QUITS (Not Tenet)

"Like Mr Story, Mr Hamilton did not want to elaborate. But both men conceded that Redmond's investigation could have caused embarrassment to President Bush and his family."

http://www.drudgereport.com/flash.htm

The developers of the Promise software are suing the government for stealing it during the Bush I admin. I don't know much about it, but how embarassing would it be if Poppy steals the software from an american company only to have it end up helping Bin Laden evade Junior.

Buried pre-holiday, the WP had this, which says that he was forced out because he told the truth to the House:

Either way this stinks.

2. This is the OCTOPUS -- reporter was suicided for this very issue!!
Oh my, god! The Promis software issue and Inslaw are rearing their ugly head again...now we have a clue into the so called, "OCTOPUS," that resulted in the "suicide" death of an investigative reporter in the late-1980s.

PEOPLE THIS IS THE REAL SCANDAL!

Lets bring the name of Danny Casolaro back to the public discourse.

Here's some dots to connect:

14. Wow! Will this be coming out now in the great Intel Revolt of '03??
From the above link (note the story is dated Dec. '91):

Riconosciuto declared that someone in the Justice Department had stolen Inslaw's software, called Promis, and given it to American intelligence operatives for resale in the international intellegence market. He later said he had been hired to alter the software prior to these sales.

Promis was designed to manage and track complicated cases through the manifold layers of criminal-law bureaucracy -- from investigation to arrest to grand jury, trial, and, in the event of a guilty verdict, prison and parole. It could deliver myriad details at the push of a button. Slightly altered, it could easily become a powerful tool for monitoring intelligence cases, dissidents, and even citizens at large. As such, William Hamilton reasons, it would be of value to any number of regimes.

In recent months, the Hamiltons have charged that Promis had been illegally distributed to military and intelligence agencies in Iraq, Libya, South Korea, Singapore, Israel, Canada and other nations. This is a scenario that would never have occurred to the Hamiltons until Riconosciuto laid it out in the spring of 1990.

Early on, Riconosciuto told Casolaro that the software had been traded for cash, with some of the money going to reward American intelligence figures for services redered, and the balance going into slush funds for future operations outside the purview of Congress. Casolaro asked his newfound source what deeds had been done to warrant such payment.

"I told Danny that one of the services rendered was orchestration of the 1980 release of the American hostage in Iran," Riconosciuto told me.

RIDDLE AS US SPY CHIEF QUITS
Sunday Express

**Exclusive**

<SNIP>

Hours after Redmond had cleared his desk, Bush ordered a GBP 25million bounty on Saddam's head. He wants Saddam "dead or alive" and the same goes for bin Laden. Already Bush has agreed to either man forgoing a trial and being shot after interrogation. The official reason given for Redmond's abrupt departure was "health reasons." But stunned colleagues in the Homeland Security department in Washington, where Redmond had his office, insist the former Associate Director of the CIA was in perfect health. His departure has led to intense speculation that he may have begun to uncover embarrassing details of how the software came into the hands of Saddam and bin Laden.

Documents obtained by the respected International Currency Review, a London-based newsletter for the financial community, allege that the software was provided for Saddam on the authority of President Bush's father when he was in the White House - a time when relations between Iraq and Washington were close during Baghdad's war with Iran. The Review's publisher, Christopher Story, a former financial adviser to Lady Thatcher, said: "The documents are extremely sensitive and raise some very serious questions."

About the Inslaw case...now THAT's one can of worms that Poppy--let alone Dub--does NOT want to see opened, especially before Poppy's boy's "Quest for Legitimacy" campaign next year! :eyes:

8. Will he follow Rand Beers?
I heard Beers is also bringing others in to make the case against Bush. Kerry's candidacy could go down BECAUSE he has the info. BushInc will not let the American public hear that case during the election. They'll pull every trick in the book to keep Kerry from winning the primary.

10. My main question is How come Drudge
is running with this story? Is this some part of a Rove inoculation move? Let a little out & then discredit Redmond or something? Like what he did with Jim Hatfield & the cocaine story? What gives?

11. Drudge definitely has his biases...but, he's also a scandal buff.
This story does nothing to help Bush at all, so I don't think you can argue that Drudge is running it out of Repuke-led interests. I think that Drudge will run anything smelling of scandal...albeit, he tends to run more scandal stories that are damaging to Democratic interests.

Pure and simple...the Promis/Inslaw and Poppy give to Saddam IS THE BIGGEST STORY not to be covered by the US media. I, for one, will take this one time opportunity to thank Drudge for running it.

15. kick!
is it possible to still have justice in this country?

if Bush Sr. and Jr. were both busted and America learned the truth...

we might just have a chance at having a democratic republic again!!!!!

I can't let myself get optimistic. But I'm glad to see that Casolaro's book will be reissued. it cost eighty bucks used now!

17. I'm kicking this again
...and it has nothing to do with Drudge...and, excuse me, but you may not be my online patriot actor and tell me what to read, thank you.

are you aware of the potential magnitude of this issue?

this relates to both past and present crimes.

you don't have to link to Drudge, if it bothers you so much.

goggle or click on Trail of the Octopus.

find a copy of Simpson's out of print book, Blowback. Read Lost History, by Robert Parry. Read Spider's Web, by Alan Friedman. Read up on BCCI.

goggle Iraqgate, Iran-Contra, go to TheConsortium to read Parry's online work.

...but don't tell me where to go on the web or what to read.

18. Well, what the hell--
Drudge isn't gonna go away just because some of us DUers decide to boycott him. I say click on him when it's useful to do so, and especially click on him when he's running "our kind" of stories. Maybe he'll figure out that his whorish interests are well served by running more things that make Rove froth at the mouth.

23. there are two books called Blowback
the one by Simpson is out of print.

the one by Chalmers Johnson is in print.

I keep looking for the first one at used bookstores, but no luck so far. they're asking waaaaay too much for it online...just like the Casolaro book.

I lucked into finding a copy of Spider's Web, which is also out of print, but a great book. (That's the one from the Financial Times reporter who tracks Bush Sr. and Reagan's illegal arming of Saddam.)

In fact, I've been trying to find copies of books from that time because most of them are out of print.

19. Questions for the Octopus Hunters
I've read a good number of octopus links this evening and, while I'm anti-conspiracy to the core, I gotta admit some of this stuff makes a lot of recent events make some pretty spooky sense.

Might this have something to do with the editing out of the names of the companies that assisted Iraq in its arms declaration?

Hell, might this be a reason, in part, for the invasion--secure not only saddam but his documents as well?

How could the promise software allow Bin Laden to evade capture (here I part company with the article-- Most of the theories say PROMIS had a back door that allowed NSA satillites and super computers to snoop on people using software. Bin Laden probably has an out of date Dell laptop and a cell phone.}

What are the connections with oil biz people and this situation that many of the links mention?
