http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=519&u=/ap/20030910/ap_on_re_us/brf_sept_11_cheney_1&printer=1

NEW YORK - Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Wednesday he asked Vice
President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) not to attend the city's World
Trade Center anniversary ceremony because Cheney's security would have
"inconvenienced" family members of victims.

1. Wouldn't dick&bush send more security....
wouldn't the families be more secured...how is more security an inconvenience?

Bloomberg is full of shit. Cheney is not wanted or welcome now and will not be welcome in 2004.

That's one group of people dick&bush can't kick around.

2. Maybe the families can petition Bloomberg to keep
the GOP convention from sullying the memory of the WTC victims, and force the GOP to move their propaganda party somewhere else?

3. They did. They petitioned against the war(s) too - we all did in NYC

But it's not like we matter or anything. Anyway, Bloomberg spin or not, this story is important - so rate it! (freepers do!)

4. That, and he would have been booed off stage.
The Repugs should move their convention from NYC, we hate the fuckers here.

5. We discussed the possibilty that Cheney thought
something else was going to happen today and didn't want to come to NYC, so he asked Bloomberg to "dis-invite" him so he wouldn't look like the chicken-hawk he is. But it makes me salivate to think that the families didn't want him there.

6. Last night I heard reporters : "Families asked the Mayor...
I went to the peace vigil at ground zero (Families for Peaceful Tomorrows). I walked faster than the crowd, and blocks ahead there were only reporters with cameras. I overheard this part (I thought it was about Bloomberg to stay away). Once I read this I realized what they were saying.
The anger in the city over the GOP exploitation of this is palpable. It will bring everyone to the polls next year!

8. They need more bodyguards ...
... than any dictators in history, it seems to me. I wonder whether it's based more on a 'threat' assessment than a 'cowardice' index. It's my impression that it's clearly the latter. The B/C inauguration was marked by uniformed security forces at least twice as numerous as any before. Commander Codpiece seems to require a 'dissent exclusion' perimeter larger than anyone, ranging from square blocks in Berlin to square miles in Canada.

9. In the case of Shrub, they also have to protect him from the truth.
The sight of protesters makes him fall to pieces.

11. Security. Didn't they assign 3,000
Security is BS. Where did I see that aWol would have something like 3,000 agents with him overseas?
