Tanker Truck Explodes on I-5 in Lynnwood (Seattle)

SEATTLE - Firefighters are dousing the flames following an explosion of a fuel tanker traveling northbound around 12:45 p.m. Saturday near 212th St SW and 44th Ave. in Lynnwood, Wash., Snohomish County.

The mother of the tanker driver, Sue Bramer, said her son, Gary, called her and said he managed to escape the explosion with only a scratch and was being taken to nearby Providence Hospital. Earlier reports from witnesses said he did not survive.

One witness said a man suffered some burns to his arm, but there were no other reports of injuries.

I could see the smoke all the way from south Seattle, about twenty miles away.
