Brigadier General Among Those Killed In (Texas 'Copter) Crash

BRUCEVILLE-EDDY, Texas (AP) -- A military official says a brigadier general is among those killed in a fiery helicopter crash yesterday.

Seven people died when the Army helicopter hit a web of support wires on a T-V transmission tower in Texas, about 30 miles from Fort Hood.

Fog was thick at the time and the tower's warning lights were not working because they'd been knocked out in a storm last week.

But a military official says Brigadier General Charles Allen was among those who died. Allen served as an assistant division commander for the Fourth Infantry Division. During his career he had been stationed at several U-S and overseas military posts and also worked at the Pentagon.
