2. It's an insidious and effective strategy.
1. GOP pol tells lies that sound plausible, is believed by his supporters and those without access to the facts.
2. Clued-in people point out the error of fact, overturn accusations predicated on the "error".
3. GOP pol complains about being "attacked" by the opposition, decries "negativity"
4. GOP pol's supporters rally around the pol and defend him.
5. Clued-in people wash their hands of the whole affair, fatigue increases, other lies are let to stand.
