The charge against Thomas is that he improperly omitted his wife's ideologue-derived income from his required public financial disclosure. Such information is important when, for example, an attorney with a case before Thomas might have a good argument that he should recuse himself because the outcome of the case could have a direct impact on his family finances.

The linked article doesn't mention any allegation of nonreporting or nonpayment to the IRS, and I haven't heard of any such thing.

Thomas's nondisclosure (I don't even need to say "alleged nondisclosure" because he's admitted it) is a serious matter by itself. We shouldn't give the right wing the opportunity to deflect attention by defending Thomas against a straw-man charge of tax evasion.
