34. Impressive outrage.
But the venue is NYU and the cost per credit equally impressive. These kids aren't coming from log cabins. Neither have they been asked to fight in our wars as my generation was.

This is a generation raised to know only the privileges and none of the responsibilities of citizenship.

But they are beginning to see that the privileges are being snatched from them. They're waking up.

They may have heard of Kent State, and the day I sat with fellow sheltered darlings in a classroom in our commuter college and seriously discussed the way to make a molotov cocktail, because we didn't know if our government had declared war on its students. Within 24 hours of the Kent State shootings every campus in America was shut down.

Talk is cheap (as opposed to speech, which is money) and easy. But when words are met with violence, something changes. I don't know if these sheltered darlings are outraged enough to stop a war, end the draft, and extend suffrage to 18 year olds like we did, but maybe they can also make their mark.
