69. Why has manufacturing declined so much if free trade is good for us?

Isn't it true that free trade has damaged this country? Higher unemployment and lower wages for those lucky enough to have a job have also reduced the taxes collected to support things like social security, medicare and education.


Isn't it true that workers who only make a dollar or two an hour will never have the buying power to purchase products manufactured where the workers make fifteen or twenty dollars an hour? Won't these workers just purchase products from other countries where the workers only make a fraction of what Americans make?


I can go on and on but I think that by now you must see where I am going with this.
