197. Uh, no.
Wolfhounds were coursing hounds, bred to be catch dogs (by the Romans not the Irish). They are not, and never were kill dogs, that job was left to the mastiffs, corsos, or other types of guarding dogs. Cattle dogs are bred to herd cattle, a wolf would destroy them (few dogs can stand up to a wolf, even a pack of black and tan coonhounds was decimated by two wolves a few years ago), Great pyranese and a few other breeds actually guard the livestock. If you have ever seen one doing its job, you do not approach the herd.

Most protection dogs are not really man aggressive. It is a game, and most are simply trained to the sleeve or the suit and would not hit an unsleeved arm because they do not know how. Real dogs, the true serious ones, are very rare and are in very high demand by the military and a lesser degree the police. Many of them are handler-hard and are not for the feint of heart. They are serious dogs and are not for the general public.

Here is a video of a real protection dog (a Malinois), note at 1:32 when his handler screws up and the dog hits him. This is a real serious dog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4moJqmTtBgg

I am glad the little puppy got a chance at life; however, pit bulls suffer from indescriminate and stupid breeding practices. The breed is a mess physically and mentaly. Anyone who denies that this breed is about 3/4 ruined is only kidding themselves. I own dogs with some aggression. I understand what I have, and I deal with it accordingly. The modern Pit Bull Dog in America is a disaster and I blame no one for calling for their banning. Unless and until AKC adopts true breeding guidelines based upon performance (like the FCI does)this crap will continue.
