that is as likely to make less jobs as more and is even more likely to lower wages.

What suffering will it alleviate?

Pharma patent experts from coming up with new delivery systems and inert ingredients to prolong the big profits? Companies that want free/subsidized labor rather than paying someone a living wage to pad their profits? Seniors with too much money at the end of the month? Eliminating the stress on folks that are worried we don't have enough free trade agreements?
