Wolf's scenario stated the guy had a good job and COULD afford it but made a choice not to buy health insurance. Not that he couldn't afford it.

I don't agree with that crowd, but there's a world of difference between callousness toward someone who COULD have taken care of their own needs and callousness to someone who can't. I can understand where the crowd is coming from on this one but I disagree.

IMHO I would fully expect a 30 yr old with a reasonably good life to think they are invincible. None of us is really prepared for when crisis comes. That's why I think we should all be in Medicare. Everyone in, no one out. Because I don't want a Dr. standing there wondering if this guys insurance will ever pay up or if this coma patient even has insurance, or how rich the heart attach patient is.

When our lives in the balance the last thing a doctor needs is to be thinking about whether or not he'll get paid.
