but the rest of it was just too much. Thankfully, in topographic drafting, I was able to apply trigonometry into something useful (making maps) which I do to this day.

What I was getting at, though, was how in the US, the liberal arts are being dumped in favor of science and math. At the same time, there are plenty of artists knowledgeable in science/math, and vice versa. What kind of scientists/mathematicians are we going to produce if they aren't exposed to the arts at an early age? And what's going to happen to all those that are artistic if they no longer have a curriculum that supports their talent?

We need our children to have a rounded education, not ones that are lopsided to academia only. The Fins understand this concept. We still haven't figured it out...
