From the perspective of Guardianista types who are perpetually unable to reconcile their grudging admiration for the USA with their loathing of "Americanism".

Here's another example. On September 13, 2001, two days after the September 11 attacks, the US Ambassador Philip Lader appeared as a guest on the BBC TV show Question Time. During his appearance, hostile members of the audience slow-handclapped Lader and shouted abuse at him while he struggled to regain his composure.
