BEIRUT (AP) — Activists and residents say several people have been killed or wounded in fresh attacks by Syrian troops in the flashpoint city of Homs.

They report heavy gunfire throughout the night and Wednesday morning as military reinforcements arrived in pursuit of activists and anti-government protesters.

The London-based Observatory for Human Rights, which has a network of activists on the ground, said seven people died in the shooting Wednesday.
