Does Japan just give numbers to their typhoons instead of names, ie: Katrina?



The town of Nachikatsuura, Wakayama Prefecture, is seen flooded on Sept. 5, 2011, after being battered by Typhoon No. 12. The massive typhoon, which ground over Shikoku and southern Honshu over the weekend and is still bringing heavy rains to the north of the country, has left 37 people dead and 56 missing across 11 prefectures as of the early hours of Sept. 6. The Ground Self-Defense Force has been deployed on rescue operations, but has been prevented from reaching some areas by landslides and other disaster damage. (Mainichi)
