The Tea-Baggers are cartoon thugs, and they have chocked off all legitimate libertarian (right-libertarian mostly, as left-libertarian is not even in the ball park, most Americans think left and libertarian are 2 utterly incapable things) debate, and made it a taboo subject in a multitude of ways for many election cycles to come, I fear.

The original Tea Party was founded in 2006 by Tom Knapp, http://www.indytruth.org/pblog/index.php?entry=entry080620-185101 and gained many follows from the Ron Paul supporters over the next 2 years. But by 2009, the Koch bots had infiltrated and re-branded so much of the platform into typical foolish corporate pro-war, anti-gay, pro-security state claptrap.
