ONLY named black I ever heard of in the Revolution was Crispus Attucks - and he died 3 years before the revolution began.

I think that to the wingnuts "founding fathers" means anybody who was alive during the Revolution - that's how they could call John Quicy Adams a 'founding father', even though he was still in short pants at the time of the nation's founding.

While there certainly were blacks who fought in the Revolution, they were foot soldiers, they were sailors, they were not the leaders. And they were all from the northern colonies - the south did NOT put guns in the hands of slaves. It was a very, very bad idea. That's why there were so many recruited by the British to fight AGAINST the Americans - they were promised their freedom if they rebelled against their owners.
