Probably :bounce: if you'd put "the" - I think if we could ever get to the point where everyone (or the vast majority) thought that everyone actually did deserve to be considered equal, it would go a long way toward easing many other problems. If others are seen as equal, it becomes impossible to split people into groups and pit one against the other. Divide and conquer is the main driver in US politics.
