Reliance on false dichotomies is a characteristic of pre-principle-based cognitive development, from a rather loosely-generalized Piaget -ian (and, by extension, also Kohlbergian) sense of that discussion.

Although there ARE tons of people >25-30 who also depend almost completely on at least a, possibly selectively, limited application of principle-based cognitive functions, habitually.
