1. Their worst fears have been realized.........
Edited on Fri Nov-20-09 11:00 PM by Clio the Leo
and they TRIED to warn us.

At the time of the Brown v Topeka decision, the Daily News of Jackson, MS wrote that, "White and Negro children in the same schools will lead to miscegination. Micegination leads to mixed marriages and mixed marriages lead to the mongrelization of the human race."

Well, one of those "mongrels" (and obviously that's THEIR word for him, not mine) is now the President of the United States.

And there's exceptions to that obviously. My own family ..... rural southern whites some of whom actually REMEMBER FDR being President, voted for Barack Obama because they felt he was the better alternative to McCain (due in large part to Palin.)

But I think it's naieve to expect that generations of fearmongering will all go away because of one campaign, even one as transformative as it was.

And just as an aside, there was a folk song sung during the Civil Rights movement after a visit to Atlanta by Oginga Odinga, Luo opposition leader and the father of current Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Part of the song said, "Oginga said 'what's goin' on down in Selma? If you white folks dont listen up I'm gonna call Jomo Kenyatta!'" ......... Barack Obama Sr., actually worked for Oginga Odinga after he went back to Kenya, he made some enemies, became an outcast, started drinking heavily and the rest is history.

I cant help but hear that song and think how things have come full circle.
