30. You know, this last weekend has truly crystallized for me the importance of having black voices
and opinions on this web site.

Because I had more than a few people trying their damndest to tell me how I should have felt about this speech. How insulted I should have been, and how mad I should be at this president.

Of course, it helped that most of the ones doing so have about as much credibility as Sarah Palin after a weekend on the town with donors' money, but that's not even the issue. We can see, hear and think for ourselves. As Solomon so beautifully posted in one thread, we don't need to be told what to think and especially not by people outside of our community and who don't seem to have any genuine interest in it beyond what they can use to bludgeon this president with. I hope folks take that to mind, but I have a feeling that I'm being probably overly optimistic. :)

So props to all of the black posters on DU. All nine of us (is it even that many??) :rofl:
