18. No, the Bush-appointee dominated Justice Department would have revolted
and the Republican-dominated Supreme Court would have made sure that none of the charges stuck. Then, when it was over and Obama's approval was at, oh, around 30%, the Republicans would have drafted articles of impeachment out of revenge.

So no--investigating the Bush administration would have done absolutely nothing to finish the Republicans as a party.
