with people here on this - BO knew the math from day one, he knew there was ZERO chance of any kind of single payer or public option clearing the senate, and to try to push it from his platform would have hurt his political capital enough to maybe sink the whole deal, like the Clinton effort in the 90s - they were too far out in front and gave the "liberal media" the grist to help the Rs kill it.

BUT, sadly, here at Democratic Underground, people put the knives to the only president in most of our lives to actually PASS ANY kind of NCR reform because he did not go onto the white house lawn and hold his breathe until he turned blue in a fit over the PO or single payer - HE sold us out, don't you know.
