on something that shouldn't be an issue for you to care about?
I'm tired of the ingrates who expect so much, even when they actually know better, because they really do understand that there are tangible and intangible limitations, that not one person controls, and that the President readily admits he cannot either, which is why he governs based on what can be done, which isn't always going to align perfectly with what should be done if it could.
It is intellectualy Dishonest to believe that one has all of the answers, and that things in this world will respond as they have been preordered, when that is not the case in this all too real world.
Folks like you opine in a vacuum from one policy to the next without regard to context, like the fact that in a democracy, there is not supposed to be an authoritarian view nor a "ruler" who just gets done what he wants, whichever party he belongs to. Bush did that, which is the reason that was justified, IMO to have disliked him so.
Making things happen ain't that simple, and that is an elementary fact, that is left out of most conversation..... as we are to imagine images of this President with flames coming from his nostrils, ordering this country around in the way that he sees fit, even if congress moves against him, and the media shapes public opinion against everything he says.
A board with too many posters who are disingenious at best, as they pretend not to have any knowledge of the limitations that the office of the Presidency has, because in their dreams, it doesn't work that way.
It is one thing to believe what the end results should be.... but if one is in denial to the fact that the ways they prescribe we get there are nearly impossible based on the cards that have been dealt, unless we get rid of this society and get a new one, then their prescription is flawed, whether they want to admit that or not. I call it intellectual arrogance at its worse.
If going to an Obama board where grey is discussed, without the intellectual pompousity of those who know how everything should happen, keeps that type of arrogance out of the conversation, than that's is an excellent option for those of us who see things as they are and do not simply as "Why Not", but also are willing to answer "How do we move towards a better direction, realistically, and based on all of the variables present?"
