127. AFter reading so many of the OP's opponents on this thread, I would say
I hope you continue to fight like hell for your progressive convictions, your ideals, for it is the way eventually to be proven right in history (as I believe it to be so).

As such, I have a great deal of sympathy for those who are so passionate about what they believe Obama should have been (at this brief time in office...less than one year). I do not always disagree. I supported Bill Clinton but vigorously opposed him on DADT, DOMA and his lack of action on genocide in AFrica. I was proven right and Clinton has retreated and apologized for those stands.

However, we need to balance our need for perfection in what we progressives want from a Democratic president and what we know is a political game to gain time and the approval of the American public. Everybody: sober up and think these things through a little better. We are better off with a Dem pres. than a puke pres. If you don't believe that basic premise then you are really in a faraway place with no anchor to the present reality.

WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO ENGAGE. and we have to face the reality of what our choices actually are. Not what we WANT them to be, WHAT they ARE!

If Dems really want to survive, we will play to win, not to give up and cry about it.

That to me is the choice, and I admit it is not a pretty one. However, it is one I have learned, in my long life, most often comes out best...
