Venezuelan opposition newspaper taunts for assassination of Chavez

El Nacional today published a headline that says:

“Murió el Mono y queda el mico”

(The monkey has died and the mico is left) but it can also be interpeted as "The monkey has died and the mico is next"

The headline is in reference to the bombing death of the FARC's Mono Jojoy in Colombia. "Mono" in Spanish = "monkey."

"El mico" is a term used by the Venezuelan reactionary opposition when referring to Chavez.

"Mico" in this context is a shortened version of "mi comandante," which is how Chavez is called by armed forces generals and other top officers and soldiers.

But in Venezuela there is a species of squirrel monkey called "mico," so "el mico" is an offensive reference to Chavez.

--------------------

The headline is being interpeted as an incitment to magnicide and another example of the opposition's porno-journalism.

(This is the same newspaper that published that grotesque. years-old photo of bodies in the Caracas morgue a few weeks ago with the clear aim of linking Caracas' high crime rate to Chavez's government.)
