16. Tradition
In conservative strongholds, tradition is a big, HUGE selling point. If it has always been a certain way, it will always be a certain way, because it is part of the tradition. Never mind if it is the smart thing to do (it is not). Never mind if it is the right thing to do (it is not). Never mind that it has bankrupted any chances of any kind of sustainable future (it has). Never mind that more and more young people will get sent off to more and more wars (they will).

Dammit, it's tradition. Try to point out the obvious to them and you'll be branded a heretic and get the weird brainwashed glassy eyed "if looks could kill" look before they deck you.

I still say what this country needs is a new Rock and Roll. If you cannot get the parents to open their minds, play on the sensibilities of their kids (before they grow up and turn into dumbasses too) and reach them through music. Play on that teen rebellion in just the right way and make a new generation of Democrats. Rock and Roll was the only chance liberalism ever had in this country.

We need to release a good "dry humping"* dance song with just the right lyrics to take the country by storm and appeal to 18 year old teens. Make it sexy to vote Democrat. ;)

*long story. If you don't already know the significance to that phrase...let's just say dancing must be the new Rock and Roll.
