My obvious contention with much of the criticism is quite simple. LYING and saying the announcement was about the logo. If the website was equally "outrageous" then why the dishonesty?
A couple people in this thread actually made coherent and reasonable arguments - that they drummed up too much media attention. That's fair. But in my opinion anyone who is actually 'outraged' by it wants to be outraged, and isn't likely to utilize the site anyway.
It's understandable they would want to draw attention to the unveiling of the site. Perhaps they over did it. Get over it, seriously.
