Says he was "disapointed the (crooked real estate deal) turned out that way" and that he "never meant for it to turn out that way".

I've heard exactly that same sort of talk from every serial criminal I've ever known. They're always sorry for the way the WORLD turned out, not for what they themselves DID. They're always the victim of circumstance and coincidence, always surrounded by people who "tricked them into it" or "left them no choice".

He sounds like a very common con man to me, so I have no doubt whatsoever that he'll find a place in the Republican Party without too much trouble.
