23. It could be a take-off on The Producers
Instead of producers looking for the worst possible stage play, a doddering old GOP candidate could look for the worst possible running mate to make him look intelligent and articulate by comparison, someone with no education, no experience, and a family that belongs on Jerry Springer. After considering conservative idiot after idiot, he finally finds idiotic gold in Palin and his handlers tell him it only took five minutes of screening to realize what they had. McCain shouts "that's my running mate!". To his surprise, however, it backfires on him and that terrible running mate steals the show and makes him irrelevant. Like Springtime For Hitler, she becomes a hit in spite of herself. In fact, certain conservative members of the public like that terrible running mate precisely because she is a weirdo and a numbskull with no idea what she is talking about in her interviews.
