Your issue is with Dumbfuckistan, not "the South". Dumbfuckistan, unlike the South, is not a real place, It is a Brigadoonian state of mind.

And in case you haven't noticed, what is left of our manufacturing base includes MANY factories in the South and in red states.

In fact, even the term "red" states is not so broadly true anymore. Obama was a serious electoral player in former red states like Georgia and Mississippi and Alabama and .....

Those places are all purple, my friend. Not red.

Their populations are still slightly favoring of the Dumbfuckistanians, but not by all that much.

By the way, next time you find yourself in Atlanta or Nashville or Jackson or Birmingham or Tulsa, look around. Losta rock solid liberals down there.
