It's easier also because if your parents are Black, there is a 100% chance that you are Black unless you are adopted or in today's world, the mother carried the sperm of a White donor.

(Edit to clarify: If one of the parents was identified as Black it use to be/ still is by some ~ you would be defined as BLACK. Now more and more those children are called "Mixed" I believe that is going to be a Census option.)

And, people can easily identify you as Black unless you are Mulatto and even then, most Black people know the difference.

For example, in my family, my grandfather had blue eyes and straight hair. He looked more White than most White people that I know. : )

When I was a little girl he would take me downtown to the Market- we lived in Maryland - and people would stop him and say, " What a sweet little girl, is that your Maid's child?"

I have vivid memories of my tall handsome grandfather answering, " I am proud to say I am a Negro and this is my beautiful granddaughter, good day."

He taught me at that age to be proud of who I am.

I am delighted to be living in the world today because now people are becoming so racially mixed up ,it doesn't even matter.at least to most of the people that I know.

Soon, it will not matter (like Michael Jackson predicted) if you're Black or White or Gay or Straight -- what a wonderful world that will be, IMO.
