OTOH, maybe my foggy-headedness kept me from being clear on it.

The senior attending neurologist said 'stroke' very clearly and the blood work (and scans) show it. The chief resident says two TIAs and says there's really no difference except in duration and severity of damage. Since they lasted an hour before recovery was evident (and about 2 hours for nearly complete recovery) and a TIAs are generally thought to last only a few minutes, the resident and attending essentially agree that they were ischemic strokes and not hemorrhagic strokes.
