I had to get my kids to come and read your post because it sounds so much like my story that I've told them over and over. When I was in grade school, probably second or third grade, I got up and looked out my window to check for my cat that I'd let in every night. Across the road, I could see a light hovering about four feet above the ground. It was about three feet wide and two feet tall and was spinning around horizontally. It didn't seem solid, more like it was a lot of sparks or lights held together in that spinning pattern. I watched it for a while, couldn't figure out what it was, and went back to bed!

I told my parents about it, but they dismissed it as a dream, or maybe the neighbor was burning something.
