This is a letter I sent this morning in response to
a David Lazarus column in LA Times biz section:

The words "single payer" and "public option"
are too often repeated and thus have lost their meaning,
especially to those who are rebelling at any government
paid health care plan, even while wanting their own
Medicare protected.

A buy-in to Medicare for everyone under the age of 65
is the answer. It's built, albeit with some real problems
created by Congress not too long ago, but that can be
repaired.

That way Medicare becomes solvent, we all get a
healthcare plan that works and doesn't need a lead
time to see results and private corporate health
care businesses get some real competition. Its
overhead is also lower than corporate
healthcare.

We've seen how corporate America thumbs its
nose at Congress. Many take taxpayer money
and not spread it to those it was intended, but
hoard it and give their execs the big bonuses.

It took you until almost the last paragraph to admit
you want a public single payer option. A buy-in
to Medicare is a no-brainer and everyone with a
public voice should be saying it. Now.
