Hi Truthseekers,

Kathy Malloy here.

As the Senate enters a month-long recess at the end of this week (the House adjourned last week), so many issues critical to the future of this country remain unresolved. The decisions Congress makes on these issues will be a measuring stick for exactly how much “change” and reform we can expect from this Democratic administration and legislature.

What will become of the GITMO detainees? Will GITMO close?

Will we commit more troops to Afghanistan?

Will we finally receive some kind of meaningful national health care plan?

What about the “cash for clunkers” program? Will the GOP minority successfully scrap that successful social and economic stimulus plan?

Will there be any investigation of the war crimes, overt lies, and war profiteering by members of the Bush Crime Family?

What about Cap-and-Trade? Or the 12 appropriation bills left hanging in the Senate? The Sotomayor nomination?

What’s the point in Democratic control of the Congress and White House if there’s no progress on these important measures? What “change” did we vote for, anyway?
