Prop 8 Protest/GLBT Rights Rally--Asheville,NC

I went to the Protest/Rally in Asheville, today. It was the most moving and beautiful rally I have ever attended. On short notice, 200-300 people were there in support, the energy was strong and positive. A couple of organizers spoke and then open the forum to any individual who wanted to talk. Ministers stood up to say they would not perform another marriage until they could marry same-sex couples. A lesbian couple of 27 years talked of their lives and their family, they raised two daughters and have several grandkids. A strait woman told us about her gay son and lesbian daughter. A young lady stood to honor her two mothers who were just married after years together.

I was touched by the hope, optimism and love shown by everyone there. There was less anger, and more determination. We will make this happen. Prop 8 woke a sleeping giant. The GLBT community is motivated and bringing the strait allies along to demand equal rights for all. I do not doubt that we will be successful, however long it takes!

I stand and applaud all of you who have dedicated so much to this cause. You inspire me!
