3. That's what we get by allowing 50 media companies to merge down to 5 conglomerates
all in right wing hands. We need to break up those media monopolies in order to get back some semblance of freedom of the press, rather than a cabal that skews news to the right.

50 media companies in the 80's with diverse ownership and range of opinions.

Now down to five mega corporations in right wing hands. http://www.corporations.org/media/

Those five mega networks toss a few moderate Democrats into their line ups and call themselves balanced and get right wingers to call them liberal and we all pretend things are fine.

So many people think the corporate media skewed right just because of Bush. Sorry friends. This campaign to drive the media to the right has been going on for decades now.

There is lots of detail in Eric Alterman's book "What Liberal Media?" www.whatliberalmedia.com
The most popular right wing technique for pushing things Right is "playing the ref"-- call the media liberal so reporters will bend over backward not to appear liberal.

A more fun book about how the Right runs its massive PR campaigns is autobiographical, Blinded by the Right, by David Brock. It is a juicy tale of life inside the right wing spin machine during the Clinton era.
