Bush visit delays supply distribution on island

At the Galveston County Justice Center, there was a lot of waiting today on President Bush.

No, no one was serving him. They were all waiting for his departure so generators and other supplies could continue to reach their destinations.

Once the president landed by helicopter, traffic to and from the justice center -- a makeshift emergency center headquarters -- was halted. A huge generator sat on a flatbed trailer in line with other work crews as DPS troopers held them from back from crucial intersections.

It's part of the security protocol used when the president comes to visit anywhere.

But at least one county officials joked later: Gov. Perry yesterday. President Bush today. It's nice that they come but can't they hold their press conferences in Austin and Washington? We have to stop everything when they come.
