Texas crowd kills man after car hits kid
Advertisements [?]
USTIN, Texas (AP) - A crowd in Austin, Texas, turned ugly after
a car struck and injured a child during yesterday's annual
Juneteenth celebration.
Some in the crowd killed a passenger in the car as he tried to
prevent them from attacking the driver.
The victim is identified as 40-year-old David Morales.
The child was treated at a local hospital for
non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was able to
get away and is cooperating with authorities.
Juneteenth marks the day General Gordon Granger arrived in
Galveston in 1865 to share news of the Emancipation Proclamation,
which freed slaves two years earlier.
