I name 3 interesting facts about the problem:

1. At present, NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has 85,795 soldiers in Afghanistan and the National Army of Afghanistan has over 100,000, but they have been unable to prevent the production of drugs in Afghanistan and trafficking to other countries.
2. Russia is a major consumer of opiates, with 90% of all drug addicts using Afghan heroin. Experts predict that if this trend persists, in five years every tenth Russian family will have a member addicted to Afghan drugs.
3. In 2007, 509,000 Afghan families were involved in opium cultivation. This is about three million people (13% of the country’s population). Now, about 3.5 million Afghan peasants are growing opium poppies. In 2009, the Afghan population was about 28,150,000 people.

How the world could become if nobody stops it?
