2. I am old enough to remember the Republican Party of Old
The Party of FISCAL Conservatives and get government out of people's lives, for better or worse. The people in my age group, Republican husband included, are fed up with the trend of their Party in relation to fiscal matters AND intrusions into Americans private affairs, i.e., their BEDROOMS.

My Republican husband (separated but not divorced), who moved to Florida for work, is absolutely FURIOUS at Bush, and the Fundies, even more so now that he lives in a RED state and can see first hand what their agenda is. The best I can describe him is one of an old time Rockefeller Republican. The though of spending trillions of dollars of government money for wars AND tax cuts for Paris Hilton at the same time, send him off the loop. I will not even get into how he feels about the Fundies.

These people have to face it. They may be catering to their "base", but they are losing the VAST middle, never mind Democrats and Independents, of Republicans or RINOS as they call them now.

I really believe there is going to be a backlash. And the "moderate" Republicans are going to desert ship. I know my husband is one of them. To quote him, "Bush and the Pat Robertson's of his agenda will force me to vote for a Democrat for the first time in 30 years".
