32. Nope. AMISH, Lancaster County PA.
They just didn't have them in their HOUSES.

But, for emergency use, they would have a tiny building
WAAAY off in a field...Until it was explained to me,
I thought they were OUTHOUSES.
Poorly-located outhouses with a phone line. :wtf:

But it was eventually explained to me:
They don't have any laws against technology itself;
they simply avoid anything which would allow the influence
of the outside world to enter their society.

And they realize that Ambulances and Fire Departments
are kind of a grey area, but generally choose to lean toward
staying alive and unburnt.

So, their official ruling on phones was that it's OK
to have one for emergencies, as long as it is far enough
from your home and barn that you CAN'T HEAR IT RING.
