But the sort of skin cancer she has isn't a tragedy. It can be treated, and people almost always recover. My mother has had a related condition, rodent ulcer, several times, and she's fine. It's melanoma that people can die from; and even that is usually not fatal if it's treated early.

I hope and expect that she'll be fine!
