certainly what you are saying about the standards to join the military and why people do it is true. I have a friend that joined the marines right before the war in early 2003 because he fucked up in school and his life was going nowhere. The first year he came back to visit I could not believe what the marines have made of him, he was a grown respectable man. Unfortunately 2 years later in 2005 in Iraq he and 3 other friends were driving in a humvee that flipped over. All 3 of his friends died, he was the only one to survive. He had to under go many surgeries and now his skull is caved in which you can clearly see, the plastic surgery to fix this hasn't been done yet. I work with his mother, she was devistaded.

But the way Kerry said it, and again I know he didn't mean, will come off to most americans as if he said our soldiers are morons that didn't do good in school. In my opinion he should clarify that and apologize for any offense it caused. The debate is perfectly legitimate, the way Kerry said it 8 days before one of most important elections ever is not. If I am called by some a Bush apologist, a troll, or a freeper I honestly don't give a shit. But anyway you look at it we don't need this to be a distraction when everything was and mostly still is going our way.
