It would be political suicide to ADMIT it, but many, many people have no problem
being less than honest with their constituents.

As Robert Heinlein said "When everyone else around is rubbing blue goo in his/her navel, you also rub blue goo in your navel, looking very solemn while doing so"

(This is a very rough recall of the actual quote, but it pretty well sums up the actions of politicians)
