this is not any more unbelievable, and we don't feel any more outraged, than what was felt by black Americans 150 - or 50 - years ago.

Human history is one long struggle of the masses of people trying to scrape and grab and eat and live and secure a few basic rights for themselves against the tyrrany and greed of various oligarchs in changing costumes, who parade through our history books.

We've been lucky enough to live, until recently, in a place and era of previously unknown freedom and enlightenment. It was an exception.
