4. a jealous, miserable bully, at that ...
He can't stand for anybody else getting a tiny bit of attention which he assumes all belongs to HIM! I know that there are approval-hungry people who do not mind sharing a tiny bit of the limelight (and in fact really get off on appearing magnanimous) -- and Bush is not one of them. Even when he is clearly the focus of attention (like at the French press conference), he could not stand to have David Gregory receive a compliment. No matter that Gregory's accomplishments would make Bush look good by association, and being gracious would have been an easy way for Bush to win international points. No -- his own ego overrode all of that. He just had to blurt out a mean little dig, even if he surely knew that it made him look petty.
