When her mother was found several weeks dead in her apartment, "Doctor" Laura's response was to make sure that her radio audience understood that Laura's estrangement from mom was all mom's fault:

"I'm horrified by the tragic circumstances of my mother's death, and so sad to learn that she died as she chose to live -- alone and isolated. My mother shut all of her family out of her life over the years, though we made several futile attempts to say connected. My God rest her soul."

Okay: you don't do that. You don't criticize your mother in public. And you especially don't go on a nationwide radio broadcast to blame your poor, sick ma for dying alone.

I'm just kind of stunned that anyone would do a thing like that.
